Help to Buy used by 48,000 House Buyers
The government’s Help to Buy scheme has been used by 48,000 house buyers to purchase their properties since it started. However, there is evidence to suggest that is may have peaked. There was a decrease in terms of the number of using the scheme between May 2014 (4,026) and June 2014 (3,892). Whilst one large house builder in UK has announced it is less popular now compared to last year. Since April 2014 lenders are now asking more questions around whether or not borrowers can afford a mortgage, keeping in mind interest rates are likely to rise soon.
The Help to Buy scheme has accounted for 6% of all property transactions since the scheme began.
