Property Sales Up in Scotland
According to figures published by Registers of Scotland (RoS) residential property sales have increased by 4.5% in 2015, compared to 2014. There were 97,701 houses sold in Scotland in 2015, which amounted to £16.5 billion - the highest number since 2008.
Edinburgh experienced the largest number of sales at 11,991. This was closely followed by Glasgow at 11,616.
The largest annual growth in property sales was experienced by East Renfrewshire at 1,861 property sales, up 13.1%
The largest decrease in property sales was experienced by Aberdeen at 11,108, down 11.8%.
The average property price in Scotland is now at 169,402, which is an increase of 3.6% on the previous year. The city with the highest average property price is Edinburgh at £238,036.
